Pokemon regions have always been split into recurring biomes. How Alola Differs From Other Pokemon Regions Eschewing the Pokemon League Gym challenge structure gave players a unique journey through nature, and it all held together around a family drama that develops one of the more interesting villainous characters Pokemon has yet produced. The Hawai'i-inspired Alola region was a breath of fresh air for the franchise, but where Sun and Moon surpassed their "alternate reality" sequels Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon was in more personal storytelling. RELATED: Why It's Not Too Late for Pokemon Z Generation 6 titles on the handheld included Pokemon X and Y, which were the series' first step into 3D and felt basic as well as Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, remakes that radically shook up the source material compared to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl but were ultimately retreading old ground. It also happens to be the fifth anniversary of Pokemon Sun and Moon, the games that kicked off Generation 7.Īlthough Sun and Moon were the third pair of Pokemon games on the Nintendo 3DS (with a fourth still to come), they arguably felt the most unique. When Necrozma fled to Megalo Tower, Lusamine and her Ultra Beasts followed it. With one of the Beast Balls dropped in the fight, Sun caught a Stakataka and used it to attack Lusamine, who retaliated by sending out her other Ultra Beasts. Calling herself the mother of all Ultra Beasts, Lusamine and her team attacked Dawn Wings Necrozma to capture it. Lusamine fused with Nihilego into a single being, one she claimed was neither human nor Ultra Beast. Offended at Sun's claim, Lusamine sent out a Nihilego and commanded it to become one with her. Lusamine's presence angered Sun, who claimed that she was responsible for taking away his great-grandfather's island. After arriving at the Ultra Megalopolis, Lusamine, Phyco, and several Aether Foundation Employees found Necrozma battling Sun and Moon. She then requested that Phyco take her to Naganadel's habitat before heading to their actual destination. After seeing the wild Naganadel Phyco used to travel through Ultra Space, Lusamine demonstrated the Beast Ball's power by using one to catch it. Afterward, Phyco of the Ultra Recon Squad arrived at the Poni Altar to take Lusamine to the Ultra Megalopolis. She revealed her next goal was to capture Necrozma, the Pokémon worshiped as the "Blinding One" by the people of the Ultra Megalopolis.
